lyrics
STOWAWAY SYLVIE she set sail from port in 1892, to find a promised land or at least that’s what they knew. a captain with one good leg and 35 men with two, they feared his anger and he called them his motley crew. /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take us, reading the stars might help us to know where we are. even though we are blessed (like rats), our rations get less, we hope to land soon we confess, though the captain doesn’t know. /// deep in the hold amongst the gold and pirates pearls lies a passenger, a curious little girl named sylvie. she listens to the creaking, speaking ship and just sits tight and comes out to sing when the ship falls still at night. /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take them, reading the stars might help them to know where they are, even though they are blessed (like rats), their rations get less, i hope we land soon i confess, i’m glad the captain doesn’t know. /// from the dark deep blue came a hulla-balloo, all hands on deck, captain screamed and shouted, the ocean has awoken and on we she’s pounced! // sylvie ran below to the hold to hide and not be spied. // the men ran around in the darkness blind, battling a monster thrice times their size! // if you lily livered louts don’t saves our souls, this will be a tale that will never be told! /B/ awoken by the sound of a deathly hush, as if the men and the rats had all rushed off, at the foot of the mast lay a single soul, talking in riddles and rhymes to a flock of gulls… // sylvie ran to the man staring at the sky, dead gull on his neck, awe coloured his eye, she cradled his head and held his hand to ease his journey to his promised land. (sylvie whistled him a tune to take him home) /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take me, reading the stars, don’t help me to know where we are, even though they were blessed (like rats), they were pulled to jaws of death, i hope to land soon i confess, now the captain’s gone, and i’m all alone, free to roam, that way the seagull’s flown, is that land i’m being shown? /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take me, reading the stars, don’t help me to know where we are, even though they were blessed (like rats), they were pulled to jaws of death, i hope to land soon i confess... /////

Excellent album. Reminds me of a number of much loved tracks from the past, but given a unique twist and fresh newness that is a joy to listen to. Going to listen to it again now. So so good. Richard Davies

An amazing album by The Greek Theatre with a blend of soft Psychedelic sounds combining a little Progressive rock, and soft New Age / Dream Pop vocals. This is Excellent music by an excellent band! Reminds of mid to late 60’s psychedelic, soft psychedelic rock with a touch of 70 progressive rock, and current Dream Pop vocals. (5 out of 5 stars) ~ Stewart Brennan, World United Music Stewart Brennan
