Arrival 05:17
ARRIVAL this place has left a grim distaste, is this path of the human race? are our eyes are too high, to see we live in a sparkling sty. // round and round we go, reaping what we sow. // if it were up to me, i’d give you all a cup of tea, so we can say “hello" // all of you to your posts, up the anchor, hoist the mainsail! all aboard, this journey begins man ready the decks lets face the gale! // the current pulls me down, time to just skip town. // take me to another place where it all began, for every man, where the bad are bad and the good are gold. men in suits smoked tinged replaced by dragons with wings, where all can dream and replace an other's scene, step on to the stage, our theatre is rolling your way. // ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, your minds are the fertile ground where i’ll sow a fantabulous land and a glorious show. // listen to the pipers melody, follow me between the trees. with may whose time has come for sure and sailors who can find no breeze. clowns who dream that kings have more, a princess whose cause is not to wake, barney who fights tooth and claw, and buck with an unlucky fate. // so we go, we’ll go where the winds blow to dance on the decks and give you a show! are you ready? are you ready to go? to join us ‘the missing’. /////
2.
THE FOREIGNER i tumbled deep in to her dreams, fell to her earth in drops of rain, from high above the sky, i don’t know where i am, i don’t know why. // the smell of orange in her hair, taste of sweetest tangerine, deep and deeper underlined, i’m a stranger in her mind. // so when you wake and let me go, i will wake too to let you know, that though this foreigner has gone, it’s with you that i belong. /////
3.
STOWAWAY SYLVIE she set sail from port in 1892, to find a promised land or at least that’s what they knew. a captain with one good leg and 35 men with two, they feared his anger and he called them his motley crew. /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take us, reading the stars might help us to know where we are. even though we are blessed (like rats), our rations get less, we hope to land soon we confess, though the captain doesn’t know. /// deep in the hold amongst the gold and pirates pearls lies a passenger, a curious little girl named sylvie. she listens to the creaking, speaking ship and just sits tight and comes out to sing when the ship falls still at night. /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take them, reading the stars might help them to know where they are, even though they are blessed (like rats), their rations get less, i hope we land soon i confess, i’m glad the captain doesn’t know. /// from the dark deep blue came a hulla-balloo, all hands on deck, captain screamed and shouted, the ocean has awoken and on we she’s pounced! // sylvie ran below to the hold to hide and not be spied. // the men ran around in the darkness blind, battling a monster thrice times their size! // if you lily livered louts don’t saves our souls, this will be a tale that will never be told! /B/ awoken by the sound of a deathly hush, as if the men and the rats had all rushed off, at the foot of the mast lay a single soul, talking in riddles and rhymes to a flock of gulls… // sylvie ran to the man staring at the sky, dead gull on his neck, awe coloured his eye, she cradled his head and held his hand to ease his journey to his promised land. (sylvie whistled him a tune to take him home) /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take me, reading the stars, don’t help me to know where we are, even though they were blessed (like rats), they were pulled to jaws of death, i hope to land soon i confess, now the captain’s gone, and i’m all alone, free to roam, that way the seagull’s flown, is that land i’m being shown? /R/ sailing the seas (so free), going where the winds will take me, reading the stars, don’t help me to know where we are, even though they were blessed (like rats), they were pulled to jaws of death, i hope to land soon i confess... /////

PERCIVAL BUCK percival buck was a man with luck, until he fell underneath society’s truck, now he’s flat on his back, unable to stand on two feet. // percival buck, he used to be free, til he caught his wings on society’s tree, now he’s down to earth, unable to leave the concrete. /B/ he saw the sunshine, he saw the rainfall wet the ground, he dreamed of life signs that his life has not been drowned, has not unwound… /// percival buck was a maverick soul, until he slipped into society’s hole, now he sits in the dark unable to climb to the light (despite, all his manly might). // percival buck believed in good, until society connected with the toe of its boot, now he walks in the woods, unable to see past the trite. // where trees obscure his sight, now his hope has been drowned, unable to be rewound. /////
5.
BEYOND THE FURTHEST STAR it’s time my olive skinned princess, owl’s awoke, give yourself to the night. let you drift from me a while, on my fingertips your body lies light. /R/ all is rosy sweet and candy bright, there is no need to fear the night, you are a child of delight in your place of light, sleep tight. / your breath is deep and travels far, far beyond, the furthest star, the cosmos cradles your thoughts as you swoop and whirl with astronauts. /// as falling stars orbit the earth, sleepy thoughts are caught by gravity’s arms, landing in familiar space, where all creatures wait to see what you do. /R/ at the fun fair in your mind, candy floss clouds, float through the crowds, the laughter is so loud, with the antics of the clowns as they fool around. / it's you with the grand prize (yeah), you’re the winner every time. no matter if you look or not, you hit the ten, you pick the lucky lot, this planet spins your way until you stop, turn around and get off /// another dance before you leave, moonlight dims, time to drift back to earth. parcifal beckons you to wake, pull you back from space, that time has come. /R/ all was rosy sweet with candy swirl rays, there is no need to fear the day, even if its grey, you’ll awake and smile your way. / you’ve been away and travelled far, far beyond, the furthest star, now its time to meet your thoughts and leave your friends the astronauts. /////
6.
SHOULD YOU WAIT FOR ME year after year winter gives way to sensual spring, her scent slips into my room and silently leaves. // but when i shake off the dreams her presence has overwhelmed me, oh, when i wake from these dreams, i’m sure that she’s present in me. // no matter how deep i would sleep, my being awoke with her touch, she would slip into my bed, in my head, at her form i would clutch. // but when i open my eyes spring is no more than a morning mist, oh, when i open my eyes her scent fills the shape that i miss. /B/ and should you wait for me, i would beckon thee, i circle the earth to wake your desire to be, i’m ready spring to wake eternity, i’ll be faithful, just stay close to me /// although fierce winds blow, they’ve come to cleanse the air, although heavy rains fall they wash winter’s presence from here, although mornings are chilled, the day promises heat, although the dawn is anew by dusk, we shall be complete. /////
7.
TURTLE’S BACK here’s my hand, big enough to fit the whole of mankind in, so take it with your friends. // together you stand and together you fall, find a place and lie, deep in the valley of my life line, you’ll feel fine. /R/ we’ll be leaving soon, but not the room, just relax and we’ll shoot the moon. /// as the metaphysical properties of who i am join the string and our common consciousness inter-twines to bring a thing, such a delicate thing, a humming bird’s wing beating, we hum in unison. /R/ we’ll be leaving soon, but not the room. /// and we sing with a multiverse under our skin, and the skin of the universe is stretched tight like a drum dum dum dum, // centuries have passed us, staring deep into the black, but its hard to focus balanced on a turtle’s back. /R/ we’ll be leaving soon, but not the room, just relax and we’ll shoot the moon. /////
8.
WHEN WILL MAY RETURN? this is may, head above the clouds, listening to the stream, wandering among the foxgloves. // this is may with her imaginary friend, walking in a dream, lost among the wild flowers. /R/ she meanders down a little forest path, hopping, skipping and when tripping she laughs, exploring this place far from the touch of time, and far from the fear of the adult mind. /// where is may? in her empty room shouts mum aloud, my delicate girl so gentle has gone out, this is not allowed. /R/ what has she got in that little pure head? miraculous thoughts which can never be said. what has she got perched behind her little ear? a posy, waved by adults to dull their fear. /// /B/ where is may? she is alone, all my mother’s fears form my mother’s tears, at once she is gone, she’s lost, i’m lost, to let her soul be free, i’ll bury her memory. terrible things can befall her if i’m not by her side, she gathered the villagers to tell then the tale of loss and they cried, not one moved an inch, but held each other tightly in fear for this nymph, who surely has been lost to the evil of the wood, succumbed to the dark and voices like: only a little girl could, only a little girl could, only a little girl could. /// where is may? we’ll wait for her sunny face, but what if its just too late and her light is no more. // where is may? when the sun has left its place and the moon charms its spirits to take her away /////
9.
Clown King 03:29
CLOWN KING these are my people, i come from long line of blue bloods. i kept us free, of vikings, ogres and invading thieves. // i am the hand of God, rewarding good, and torturing my foes. i ate wild beasts that once ate from my hand, and took the queen of never-never land. /R/ but i’m not happy, i beat my wife, i drink too much, and i have no love for my life. i wish i were living a circus life, crossing my free lands with no cares, laughing, tumbling no grumbling times, coz i live beneath the sky and all of the time i have is mine. /// days spent in the company of my finest friends, camaraderie like blood that never ends, adventures with my band, each one an artisan, creative minds in matters of the heart and hand /R/ i wish i were living a circus life, crossing my free lands with no cares, laughing, tumbling no grumbling times, coz i live beneath the sky /////
10.
PAUSE FOR THOUGHT hmmm, come and go, lives are like lovers and clouds are like thoughts, come and go. memories, they take me away, daydreams do the same, hmmmm. /////
11.
The Missing 02:14
THE MISSING go away, go, go away, let me fight my war, // i’m all alone, you put me here, don’t need you any more, /R/ when the heavens split and the flood began, you sat inside and waited for another ma to make a plan so you could take a stand and show the world your open hand, something’s missing. /// go away, go, go away, let me fight my fight, // an olive branch is just a hawk’s perch to let them hunt from height. /R/ while we battle alone in the dark, you speak of light in your heart that you’ll bring, paper saviours get burnt and your ship is no ark, don’t you see that in love and war there is art, that’s what you’re missing. /////
12.
Farewell 06:13
FAREWELL don’t know where to begin, i’m feeling passing time, in the eve of our being, as the sun begins its final flight. // we’re not so far from over there, light spills in tangerine, horizon smolders in the air, imaginations can only dream. /R/ so farewell, to the names that have been said and have been sung, run now to live another day and sing these words another way. // so farewell, to all those that have been seen and have been shown, the light is gone, from the shore, your time has come, to find what’s missing. /// i promised you so many things and i meant every one, tomorrow’s dust covers our past, the future cares not for this day’s sun. /R/ so farewell, to the names that have been said and have been sung, run now to live another day and sing these words another way. // so farewell, to all those that have been seen and have been shown, the light is gone, from the shore, your time has come, to find what’s missing. /// mountain memories, like stone, will crumble facing winds of change, while mountains noble made of sand, accommodate by changing shape. /R/ so farewell, to the names that have been said and have been sung, run now to live another day, and sing these words another way // so farewell, to all those that have been seen and have been shown, the light is gone, from the shore, your time has come to find what’s missing.

"The colorful sleeve of The White Kites debut looks exactly like it's contents sound - grandiose, plush, regal and with just a hint of carnivale and music hall.
"Missing" is a top album with the sort of ADD quality that ensures you'll still be finding surprises on the hundredth listen.
Recommended!"

"They’re importing great psych back over to the motherland, beating the Brits at what was their own game who packed up their paisley overcoats and mellotrons long ago. (...) The album sounds great throughout, making the best analogue sounds in a modern setting. Simply the best release since Jacco Gardner. The psych scene welcomes with open arms The White Kites!"

"Trippy fun laced excursions, The White Kites paint pictures of serendipitous psychedelic scenery for your head." (Popa's Tunes)

"Rzecz warta uwagi, najwspanialsza chyba w tym roku, poruszająca do głębi, świeża i szczera. Po prostu istna intergalaktyczna perełka." (Krzysztof Śmiglak / Lupus Unleashed)

"The White Kites to jeden z najgorętszych tegorocznych debiutów. (…)
Jestem naprawdę pod olbrzymim wrażeniem i jestem przekonany, że to jeden z najważniejszych polskich debiutów 2013 roku. The White Kites na "The Missing" brzmią niesamowicie naturalnie i stylowo. Co jednak najistotniejsze, ich muzyka wymyka się patetycznemu zmanierowaniu, które jest najczęstszą udręką podobnych zespołów. (…)
Obok Neo Retros, The White Kites mogą stać się naszym najlepszym "towarem eksportowym". Warunkiem jest jednak to, że nie przejdą Państwo obok tych dźwięków obojętnie, pozwalając im wybrzmieć w swej muzycznej intymnej przestrzeni. Zdecydowanie jedna z najlepszych tegorocznych płyt."
